    • Excerpt from "Writingz of Brother E"

John --- John was the second eldest of the Rea family. He was of slim build and had a pleasant disposition. (An old Waterford woman named Annie Ruth (nee Griffin), long living in Kilkenny and whom I visit annually, always enquired of me of her boyfriend of more than sixty years ago. She always referred to him by the name John Joe. Actually, she is a relation of the Rea Family and is already tied with them in marriage also.) After this small digression, I must return to the subject to state that John became a tailor. After having worked in Waterford for many years, he then went to England where he met and married Faye Jakeman. He plied his trade there and rarely returned to Ireland. At this period, there was a well-known film star who rejoiced in the name of Faye Wray. The family used to jocosely explain that John had married the film star with the fish appellation, whether real or adopted. John had only one daughter, Ann, whom I had the pleasure to meet when she was visiting her aunts. I found her to have a charming personality and endowed with both good looks and a sparkling intelligence. It was no surprise to learn that she was an highly qualified schoolteacher and, for good measure, married to a Wexfordman named Ruttledge. The Ruttledges live in Birmingham, England. John Rea is deceased for some years now.
